Hi, I go by TJ here at Kickbacked!
I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life, to me everyone has a piece of History to share on this journey!
I started using “kickbacked” as my handle over twenty years ago as way to express myself as being easy going and relaxed, like sitting in a recline chair enjoying life!
Most of my acquaintances consider me a jack of all trades kind of guy! I am not afraid to get my hands dirty or to try things I have not done before. The worst thing that could happen is that you would fail! The only thing that slows me down now is my age and bifocals. Hard to do things when you are standing on your head, so to speak!
My sports interests are collecting Sports Cards & Sports Memorabilia, such as autographs – mostly baseballs and pictures. Some of the people I have met through the years included Yogi Berra, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Warren Spahn, Stan Musial, Kirby Puckett, Jim Palmer, Manon Rheaume the first pro woman hockey player plus many other mentionable’s.
I also collect coins from the U.S. & also from around the World. I especially enjoy coins that have a ship theme, animal or bird theme, type coins, gold, silver, Roman era, etc.
I enjoy collecting rocks and also sand samples from beaches I have visited! I put the sand samples from beaches in cork type bottles as my g-grandfather had done. My G-grandfather William Davies was a mining superintendent in the UP (Upper Peninsula, Michigan). He collected rocks, sand, and core samples from areas that he traveled. I have his collection, which I have not gone through. Still stored and itemized in WW1 wooden ammo boxes. I opened up one box to take a peak, some real nice agates, some were turned on a lathe into marbles! Just have to figure out away to display the collection.
I have a passion for genealogy which opened up the door to writing to other people from different countries. Have enjoyed the stories from their personal lives and those around them as well, and also the stories which pertain to history which is a interest of mine. Have met many third and fourth cousins from here in the States as well as from other countries. Currently I work at a genealogy library as a volunteer, mostly assisting others in their research or on how to use the equipment.
I like to read! I read anything I can get my hands on! I am always looking for ways to improve myself and to help others improve themselves also – which is one of the goals of this site, providing people with information that will help them to become motivated, and to have a passion to do something positive with their lives instead of just watching it slip away!
I enjoy traveling! If I get the chance to wet a line while I am out and about, that is great also. Have fished in the summer and winter, but I think my most memorable trips were in Alaska when I fished on the Kenai River and caught Pink and Silver Salmon, man that was great! The other trip was out of Ninilchik Alaska where we went out to fish Halibut, was a great trip. We saw whales, sea otters, puffins, jellyfish…..the weather was great and the fishing was even better! The other was my trip to the Nipigon area in Canada. Just slightly south of Armstrong on a lake called Candida; fishing for Northern Pike! Quite an adventure!
To summarize, this blog is to cover the interest topics of mine from above, to inject hope, motivation and some humor to help others, and to also put some quotes here of mine as well as from others who have been in my life! I also want to post what the new trends and interests are of people around the world into this blog as well.
Life is to short to just sit idle, we should always be doing something to help others and to improve the quality of life on this earth!
